In today's video, we will be walking you through how to build a RBC7 Plus replacement battery cartridge for your APC UPS System. The plus indicates a higher capacity from the battery cartridge which is a direct result of the higher capacity batteries we are using (22Ah versus 18Ah).

This cartridge is made up of 2 12V 22Ah RG1220FP batteries that are connected in a series to make 24V 22Ah battery pack (original RBC7 pack is 24V 18Ah). You should use batteries with FP terminals. Other terminals may work but may pose issues in the installation process.

It is important to check the voltage of the batteries before assembling the RBC7 Plus cartridge. Check the voltage of each battery and make sure they are above 12.6 Volts and within 100mV of each other. We perform voltage matching on the battery cartridges we assemble and batteries we ship out. If the voltages of the individual batteries are significantly different than the life of the battery may be affected significantly.

On the terminal side of one battery, stick one adhesive tape on the top and another one at the bottom. These tapes are very strong, so two strips should be plenty of adhesive to keep the batteries together. Peel back the tape covers on the batteries and carefully align (the terminals of both batteries should be on the inside) and press the batteries together. Using the weight of the batteries, allow the adhesive to form a secure bond between the batteries.

Place the fuse on the inside part of the terminals and fasten using the nuts and bolts provided. Be sure that the head of the screw is on the outside and the washer is on the inside. Next, you will take the RBC7 wiring harness and fasten it to the FP terminal posts using the color coded wire and terminals for reference. Make sure the connections are tight.

Using the volt meter again, you will measure the voltage from the AC wiring harness connector. It should read above 26 volts. Cover the terminal and fuse with the plastic caps or electrical tape to provide insulation and protection.

Your RBC7 Plus pack is ready to use.

We assemble all our RBC7 Plus cartridge only after we receive an order. We will ship out our products within one business day!
