This video describes how to reliably trap a squirrel or any other small animal.

I am using a life animal trap, so the little critter does not have to suffer and die.
To lure the animal into the trap we are using some peanut butter, which is spread at a location close to the entrance of the trap.
This will 'help' the animal to find it's way in and get trapped.
