The final step to finishing any tile job is to caulk the corners and any other places where different planes are joining. The reason for the caulk is that grout is not flexible and so will break out of these corners over time. The caulk will also provide a watertight seal in the corner to protect against future water damage. I will also caulk the top of all the bullnose trim pieces where they are set against sheet rock. There is a lot of caulking to do and a lot of time will be spent doing it but it is critical to do this well in order to give the job a tidy and crisp finish.

I hope you are finding my videos on various aspects of installing and finishing tile surfaces to be helpful. If so, let me encourage you to subscribe to my channel. I do lots of things besides tile, so I hope you'll take some time to explore what's happening in Dobbs Workshop.
