Did you break a CFL light bulb? No worries, because in this video I show you exactly what you need to do in order to properly clean up and dispose of broken CFL light bulbs!

CFL bulbs contain traces mercury which is extremely toxic to human beings, when you break one you have to air out that part of your house before you even attempt to clean it up.

First thing you are gonna do is turn off the AC. You don't want that gas being circulated through your home.

Secondly, you want to open a window, close off doors to other parts of the house and evacuate your home for 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes is up its safe to go inside and clean up the mess.

Understand that everything that touches that bulb is gonna be contaminated, so we arent gonna use brooms or vacuums, instead grab a stiff sheet of paper maybe an index card, or thin piece of cardboard and scoop it into a Ziploc bag.

If you have any small pieces left or if you broke the CFL bulb on carpet, just use duct tape and allow the powder and glass to stick to it, then throw it away as well.

And lastly, take damp paper towel and wipe the area down. Wash hands when finished.
