How to Convert a Christian to Atheism with Nicholi on Science

It is a common atheist experience to argue with a theist who refuses to follow the illogical belief that there is a god or gods. In this episode of the Atheist Underground Videos.

The method Nicholi goes into was developed by Daniel Dennett
and highlighted in his book, "Intuition Pumps and Other Tools for Thinking".

His theory for convincing someone to change their minds includes the following steps:

1. You should attempt to re-express your target’s position so clearly, vividly, and fairly that your target says, “Thanks, I wish I’d thought of putting it that way.

2. You should list any points of agreement (especially if they are not matters of general or widespread agreement).

3. You should mention anything you have learned from your target.

4. Only then are you permitted to say so much as a word of rebuttal or criticism.

With our past podcast episode mentioning brain scans and how people are unwilling to take in new information if it contradicts their current beliefs, you can see why having a proper method of discussion would help during theist vs atheist disagreements.
