How to Cook a Heritage Turkey with BriarPatch Food Co-op

A Heritage Turkey is one of the tastiest and most humanely raised turkeys you can buy for your Thanksgiving meal. Why? Because these breeds are direct descendants from those present at the original Thanksgiving. As such, they live a regular turkey life - twice as long as a conventional turkey - and build a complex flavor profile as they move freely through a natural landscape foraging for bugs. They even have the ability to fly and procreate, unlike the conventional birds that are genetically bred for a heavy breast. Additionally, heritage turkeys are hormone and antibiotic free with no flavor additives before hitting grocery shelves.
