How to Curb Park | Kerb Parking :: Step-by-Step Instructions

For the purposes of a road test, you must be able to park along the curb. To learn how to curb park, learn about the blind spots around your vehicle. With this knowledge, you will learn that the second biggest blind spot is off the passenger side of the vehicle.

Although 7/8 of your road test is in a forward motion, 1/8 of the test is slow-speed manoeuvres. It is this 1/8 that gives new drivers to biggest challenge. Practice slow-speed manoeuvres in a parking lot before venturing out onto the roadway to practice parallel parking, 3-point turns, or reverse stall parking.

When curb parking try to park off another vehicle. That way you have a reference to point, and a way to pull into the curb without having to judge how far you are from the curb.

And when you’re pulling in behind the other vehicle take note of how far that vehicle is from the curb.

If another vehicle is not available, look for landmarks (parking meters, signs and trees) that will allow you to look forward in the parking lane and position your vehicle.

Driving is not a spectator sport. To be ready for your road test you must practice, practice, practice. And practicing slow-speed manoeuvres will make your overall driving better. With this driving practice you will be gain high skill levels and proficiency.
