Here are the steps:

1) Click your icon tray
2) Right click on the icon that represents "McAfee"
3) Select the "Change Settings" menu
4) Go to "Real-time Scanning" through the Change Settings menu.
5) Click "Turn Off"
6) Choose to resume your McAfee in "Never/15min/30min/1hr"
