How to Dry Hydrangeas. There are three different methods we can use to dry hydrangeas. The evaporation method, the dry vase method, and the hanging method. All these methods work great as long as we pick the hydrangea at the right time for drying. Wait until the blooms are mature and have faded to their antique fall color. The bloom should feel papery to the touch when harvesting hydrangeas for dried flowers.
