How To Dye Your Hair Bright Red Safely. This is my new Protection Regimen for coloring my hair BRIGHT RED. (Correction* The dyes are not vegetable based, I meant to say they are not ammonia based, so they do not open the hair shaft to deposit color. Therefore no damage.) You will see me use a protein treatment and moisturize my hair. This what I do to nourish and protect my hair from any further damage after it has been bleached. I have heat damage, that is especially apparent in the front left section of my hair. I have learned that with coloring and using heat, you can NOT slack off on the general care and health of your hair. This is how I have chosen to bring my hair back to health.
