How to Find an Au Pair Host Family? | APOP

If you're hoping to become an au pair in Paris, but you're not sure how to find a host family, don't worry! You have a few different options to try out.

There's definitely a good time to be looking for a host family which is usually just before the school year starts. But with some perseverance, it's not hard to find a host family all year round...

Do you want to go through an agency? Although you have to pay for this privilege, it can certainly help you if you get caught in a sticky situation. They can also deal with your visa problems, great for Americans and maybe soon Brits too :'(

However, firstly, we recommend you let your family and friends know you want to be an au pair.

Then, try every website and alternative option out there:

1. www.aupair-world.net - we recommend visiting daily as it's very competitive. Make sure your profile has appropriate pictures, great references and lots of relevant info!

Check our video on how to do this: youtube.com/watch?v=tRtkoj59J8Q

2. www.greataupair.net is great and we would recommend paying if you're getting desperate. But if you can't afford it, maybe hold out for a while!

3. aupairparis.fr

4. Fusac.fr - we recommend using this rather than Craigslist but both are worth checking.

5. paris.craigslist.fr/search/kid - we've actually found a few jobs through this website surprisingly, but it's worth REALLY checking anyone you speak to is legit.

6. The American Church in Paris

7. www.culturalcare.fr

8. abc-families.com

Another choice is to join hundreds of au pair in Paris, like these two:

facebook.com/groups/232362636824121/

Honestly, this process can be challenging but perseverance is definitely the key. Try not to get too bummed about it. There are many agencies you can try if these links don't work for you.

Try googling Paris agencies for your nationality and include the specifics! Let us know how your search goes in the comments!
