How to Fix a Car or Truck Door that Freezes

Description from the creator

My truck door freezes shut EVERY TIME the temperature drops below freezing, which here in Pennsylvania, is pretty often. I used to keep a bottle spray thawing fluid in the bed of the truck, but I ran out, so now I'm trying another solution- one that prevents the door from freezing shut in the first place.

This took a couple attempts. I used normal automotive lithium grease and spread it on the seals around the door. My thought was that by putting a layer of grease on the seals, it would repel any water that got in the cracks and keep it from freezing shut. The first time I did this, it didn't work. My door still froze, but I had also missed some edges that I didn't think were important. So I took a second stab at the process and rubbed grease on to all the seals and edge. Sure enough, I have not had a the door freeze shut since!

So I'm calling this a success. Also, in the video I talk about needing to avoid touching the edges of the door because I figured I'd get grease on my hands, but the grease seems to have absorbed into the rubber, so that's an unexpected bonus!

I will probably do one more treatment before the end of winter, but after that I think my problem will be solved for the foreseeable future. Keep your eyes on the comments section of this video. If I have any more issues, I'll post about it.
