How to have better eye contact if you are shy; avoid staring

It's hard to have eye contact with someone until you feel comfortable around this person. So, until that happens, instead of looking directly into someone's eyes, look at their eyebrows. And then, when you get to know him/her a little better, it will be easier to look at their eyes directly. Also, if someone is talking non-stop for a long time, it is easy to end up staring at them. Instead, try to really focus on what they are saying instead of how you look. That way you are listening, and can come up with a response, plus you will have something to talk about next time. Also, try to draw other people into the conversation, and don't be afraid to express a different point of view!
