How to Install an Articulating TV Mount [North Phoenix]

Hi I’m Justin with Infinity HD. We are a home theater installation company based here in Arizona. Today I want to show you how you can achieve this look for your home. This is a flat screen TV that is being suspended in front of an entertainment niche and it almost appears to be floating on the wall. If you have a home in the Phoenix area that was built in the late 90s, you may have a similar situation. Some of these homes have a custom home entertainment niche that was built into the wall and was originally designed for large CRT or rear projection TV’s. The problem is these spaces were designed for smaller TV’s and they weren’t very wide and don’t lend themselves too much to larger flat screen TV’s.

Our clients TV’ was going to overlap the opening so much that it had to sit in front of the niche instead of being inside of it. The biggest challenge in this was figuring out how to mount the TV in a space where there’s no backing. Luckily, here at Infinity HD, we have plenty of experience in this type of install. Here we decided to build a custom wall that would give us a surface that was much closer to the opening of the space; we could then install a TV mount and hang the TV. After some careful planning and taking measurements, we designed a framed wall that would support the full weight of the TV. Here you can see the framing going in, make note of the center stud and the back brace that will eventually support the weight of the TV.

Next, the drywall pieces are installed, and finally the texture and paint. Finally, we can install the single arm articulating mount to the wall and hang our flat screen TV. This mount has a full motion allowing it to be pulled away from the wall and directed towards different viewing positions. And there we have it, the finished project.
