Here's a how to video on installing and running LOOT (Load Order Optimization Tool) for games like Skyrim. What LOOT does is reorder the mods in what it thinks is the most efficient load order, a good start if you then need to do some load order tweaking afterwards.

Using LOOT can also help fix some crash-to-desktop or CTD errors for Skyrim by making sure dependency files will load before the dependent files. It can also help stabilize your game some more making sure the load order is more appropriate.

If you still have CTD or horrible instabilities with a new mod after using LOOT, check to see if that mod has incompatibilities with other mods you may have already installed.
