How to introduce the concept of maps for kids? A neighborhood map is an answer. With familiar places and paths, kids can easily understand spacial concepts.

Here is our easy DIY neighborhood map. I used cardboard, black tape, and sheets of felt for buildings. I also added a legend that includes a pictorial representation of buildings.

This is just an idea! You can, of course, use any preferred materials and represent your neighborhood.

We had lot of conversation with this map and she played with some of her toy cars. It was worth the time spent.
