How To Layer Fragrances + My Favorite Fragrance Layering Combos

Why do you layer fragrances? You layer so you can make a unique scent. You layer so you can make your fragrance last a little longer perhaps but that's another story for another day. I will be speaking about these below topics today.

👉🏼Make a custom scent that no one has smelled before, some unique to your own personality. Make a custom scent depending on your own mood or time and day.

👉🏼Layering can mean layering two fragrances on top of one another or layering a fragrance on a scented lotion. It can mean spraying or layering fragrances to a different part of the body.

👉🏼Experimenting is key. Sometimes you go to a bar and ask the bartender to add more of this and take some of that out of a cocktail to make it a little different so layering can be a similar concept. Mine was accidental.

👉🏼Heavier scents always should be sprayed first. They provide the base or will become the base of your new signature fragrance. Otherwise when you spray the lighter scent first then the heavier scent will overpower the lighter scent.

👉🏼Complementing notes vs Opposite notes. Don’t Clash Heavy Scents Together.

👉🏼Give a feminine fragrance some masculinity with masculine notes, like woody notes, aromatics, etc. And give a masculine fragrance some femininity or lightening up with floral notes and vanilla etc.

👉🏼Day to Night options with layering fragrances.

👉🏼If a fragrance experience is very muddled and or dense then those fragrances will be too complicated to layer as they are going to overpower anything you put on it. At least this has been my experience when it comes to layering fragrances. Hard and heavy notes like ouds, woody notes and vanillas and so on can be the most difficult to layer. Although vanillas are easier than woody or oudy notes together.
