How to Make a Custom DIY Picture Frame

If you've shopped for a custom picture frame, you know they an be pretty pricey. But making your own is fairly simple.

So when my dad found a print that he wanted to frame and hang in his office, I surprised him with a custom frame made from his favorite wood--Kentucky Coffee Wood.

It's a very simple frame with mitered corners assembled using dowels, a Roman Ogee edge, and a standard white mat. But simple as it may be, it saved a ton of money to make vs buy. So I'm sharing the how to so if you are in the market, you can save yourself some cash by making your own.

Also, one thing I forgot to mention in this video was how to hang the frame once completed. You can use a million ways to hang it. If I had a keyway router bit, that would have been preferred. But I don't. So we used eye screws on each side and some metal picture hanging twine tied between the two.
