I used walnut wood with maple corner splines. This was an easy and straightforward project and I make sure to explain each step along the way. These are perfect for your own home or a handmade gift for family and friends.

To start, I cut down the walnut to rough dimensions. Next, I used my table saw to cut out the rabbets or grooves for the glass and picture to sit. I used my miter saw to cut the 45 degree angles on each end of the frame. Assembled using glue and clamped everything together with tape and my ratchet strap clamp. I constructed a quick spline jig and cut splines in each corner of the frame to make the joints stronger. The finish I used on the frame was a mix between polyurethane, mineral spirits, and boiled linseed oil.
