Step 2: Create Pilgrim Hat Base

Begin by wrapping the terra cotta pot with black felt. Use a hot glue gun to affix the felt to the pot and then trim the excess felt with scissors. Cut a large circle out of the black construction paper. Place the pot in the center of the circle and trace the pot's dimensions on the construction paper.

Fold the construction paper circle in half and make a small incision in the center. Unfold the paper and begin cutting out small incisions to the edge of the traced line. Place the construction paper over the felt-covered pot and fold the edges in, gluing each edge down securely onto the pot.
