Also known as apple and bramble jam, this is the classic combination for an autumn jam. The apples are home grown cooking apples and the blackberries are wild fruit from the hedgerow.

With this method the fruit is cooked to make a pulp, and the amount of sugar is calculated by measuring the number of pints of cooked fruit pulp. Depending on the sweetness of the fruit, add 12 to 14 ounces of sugar per pint.
