Have you ever wanted to know how to make flavored coffee
beans? It's a great way to add a touch of luxury to your daily brew. You can buy ready made flavored coffee but it's more fun to make your own, and you can experiment with different flavors.
Always store your coffee beans in an airtight container to keep them fresh, preferably ceramic and not glass. Don't use plastic storage containers as the flavors can be absorbed by the plastic.
If you want to add a cinnamon flavor to your beans, take a stick of cinammon and crush lightly with a rolling pin to release the aroma and oils. Sprinkle into the coffee jar and mix into the beans with a wooden or metal spoon. Allow a couple of inches of space from the beans to the top of the jar to allow for easy mixing and blending of the flavors.
Leave to infuse for a couple of days allowing the flavors to blend. In general it's said that you need to add about 3% of the weight of the beans in flavoring. Of course you can vary this depending on your personal taste, but don't add too much as it could spoil your coffee. The longer you leave the flavoring to infuse the stronger the taste.
You could also add powdered cinammon to your coffee grounds, or add cinammon extract to your brewed beverage. Flavored syrups have a very high sugar content, so adding your own natural flavorings is far healthier.
Try crushing a few hazlenuts and add to your coffee beans, making sure you mix them in throroughly. You could also add a few hazlenuts to your coffee beans as you are grinding them. This will give a wonderful aroma and taste to your coffee without waiting for the flavors to infuse the beans.
If you like the taste of vanilla, try crushing a vanilla pod and adding to your beans. Stir in thoroughly and leave to infuse.
You could also try adding flavored oils to your beans. In general add 5 to 6 drops of flavored extract to one pound of coffee beans. Add more or reduce the amount to get the desired taste.
Try different flavors and blend some together. You could try adding chocolate, almonds, blueberries, black currant, cocoa, the list is endless. Be creative, and apart from being easy to make, homemade flavored coffee beans are cheap as well.
Why wait any longer? Make some flavored coffee now and you'll soon be enjoying a delicious cup of cinammon flavored or whatever flavour coffee you desire.
