The key to good mopping is getting the solution right in the bucket if you are to avoid ending up with sticky floors or sub standard cleanliness so you need to find a good mopping detergent and get the blend right with hot hot water.

Detergent in the bucket first, then run the tap until it's hot then pour into the bucket until the bucket is a few inches from full. The fuller the bucket, the hotter the water! and the longer it stays hot which can save you having to fill up again and in the long run you should save on water also.

The pro mopping action in domestic cleaning is to cut into the sides first and come back swiftly over the middle sections. Then move to the next spot. Be careful not to be lulled into a mopping trance and pay attention to any stain or spill that a swift lick won't remove.

You should see steam off the floors and good bubbles in the mop water. Fill up as required.

Tip: wring out the mop really well on smooth surfaces and leave it a little more wet on outdoor decking or other more porous surfaces. It will help you to glide no matter the hard surface type.
