7 TIPS TO NEGOTIATE A PRODUCER AGREEMENT
Now generally a GREAT producer will oversee the production of his or her song, and a producer on his “ A “game will even record the artist’s performance and if needed put the final Mix on the song before it gets mastered!
1. Logistics

Lets talk logistics . Questions that should be answered in a producer agreement: are where the song will be recorded, what is the artist’s approval process or how do they come to an approval if they are signed to a label, and how is the producer expected to deliver the files.
2. Master Recordings

Now this is one of the most important questions that can be asked, which is : Will the master recordings be owned and controlled by the artist? Controlling the masters should include the exclusive rights to manufacture and distribute the masters. And, for publishing opportunities you may get later, if a music supervisor wants to use the recording in a Sync agreement, the master use license (from whoever controls the master) is one of the required licenses needed to place the song. This needs to be clarified of the rip!
3. Share of the Composition

What percentage is the producer entitled to the song’s copyright as the artist’s co-author of the musical composition? Now there are several options that could come out of this, like, both artist and producer come out with a split share! Perhaps it will be 50/50 split, 80/20, or some other division, which could easily have more than two parties involved.
