Description from the creator

There are a lot of different scenarios how you can end up with the dry wall hole. It could be hit by door knob, kids playing a game and hitting it with something heavy or you are removing picture frames or old controls from the drywall.

Regardless of the scenario, this technique shown here is applicable for holes up to an 1 inch in diameter. If you have a bigger how search for my other video on how to fix large drywall holes.

You would need following tools to complete this repair (Links to the tools that you need are in the description of the video):

Tools you will need needed
Drywall 6” knife: howtoanalyzedata.net/drywall-6-inch-knife
Drywall Patch Spackle: howtoanalyzedata.net/drywall-patch-spackle
Drywall mesh tape: howtoanalyzedata.net/drywall-mesh-tape

Other helpful Drywall repair tools, if you are planning to do multiple similar projects:

Electrical tape (to cover open wires): howtoanalyzedata.net/electrical-tape

Drywall Hole Repair Instructions:
1. First step is to do assessment of what you are dealing with. Check for wires and make sure they are not on the way. I had open low voltage wires, since the hole in this example was created from removal of old humidifier control. I ended up applying electrical tape on open wires and hiding them inside the hole.
2. We will be adding drywall mesh tape in unusual way. Typically, it is applied on top of the hole, but it can work as well inside the hole itself to create strong reinforcement, which is especially useful for larger holes.
Note: If hole is under ½ inch, you can just apply patching spackle, without adding drywall mesh tape. Hole, shown in this example as about 1 inch in diameter and I needed to provide some reinforcement for the spackle and mesh tape is perfect for that.
3. After I inserted a mesh tape into the hole I covered it with drywall patch spackle using drywall knife.
4. I let it dry out overnight. Manufacture mentioned that it is a quick dry spackle and it can dry out in 30 minutes. May it does in some other regions of the country, but I had to wait for at least 3 hours for it to dry, so I just left it overnight.
5. And the last step is to lightly sand it, apply texture paint and final paint to match the original color of the wall

Some helpful tips:
You can clean up leftovers of drywall patch spackle with wet paper towel. Once spackle dries out you can only use sanding to create finish look. But you can use up paper towel 15-20 min after you applied patch, while spackle it is still wet, and this way you can avoid mess, created by sanding.
When you do first patch the hole may not blend perfectly with the wall. Leave it to dry overnight to let your draft patch harden. You can make another coat of patch next day, to create smooth surface and make it blend with drywall better.
Wish you all the best and good luck on your project.
