In this gardening tutorial, our resident gardener Jeff shows you how to plant your own Heleniums and Anemones for summer.

Helenium plants take their name from the Greek work 'Helios', which directly translated means Sun. There is little coincidence that this is where their name originates when you see these beauties in flower during the summer, they really are that bright and vibrant. A clump forming perennial plant, Heleniums produce an abundance of colourful daisy-like, disc shaped flowers on sturdy stems. Helenium flowers are particularly long lasting from when they first appear in mid summer through to early autumn.

Anemone perennial plants are a great way of adding some colour to the garden from late summer through to early autumn, when their saucer or star shaped flowers will appear in an abundance to add a sea of colour to the flower bed or border. Anemones flower freely from June onwards and are often still on show come late October.
