Some fake emeralds are far more convincing than they appear.

In this video, Lee Wasson explains how dishonest sellers create emerald doublets by cutting a natural or low-quality emerald into two pieces and bonding them together with a green epoxy. From the top, the stone may appear to be a beautiful natural Colombian Emerald, but a closer examination reveals the truth.

You'll learn how to identify the tiny bubbles trapped within the adhesive, why examining the stone from the side is so important, and how scammers often hide the seam by mounting the doublet in a ring.

As Lee explains, one simple rule can save you from making an expensive mistake:

If something looks too good to be true, it usually is.
