In this WordJack video we’re going to show you 2 strategies for saving money on your G-suite accounts. On April 2nd, 2019 Google announced they will be raising their prices to G-suite basic and business plans. For most G-suite basic users your subscription will be raising from $5 to $6 per user per month. That may not seem like much but if you have 20 email accounts in your organization then you’re looking at a $20 a month increase adding up to $240 a year. So this video will offer two main strategies for beating this price increase by making sure you're not paying for accounts you don't need.

Basically there is an opportunity to cut the amount of email addresses you’re paying for each month by using aliases and or groups.

The first strategy is using a feature called "alias" - an alias is basically a second address for a single account. If you’re logged into gmail as an administrator in your domain you can select this settings gear and select manage this domain and you’ll be taken to your G-suite admin console. So let’s say I want to create an email address for "inquiries" at my domain .com and I want all those emails to come through to me personally. We don't need a unique account for this email address, we just need an alias on my personal account. We’ll go to users, search for my profile and go into the settings for my personal profile and click on user information. Under email aliases click on this edit icon and right here I can add a new alias. Let’s call this one inquiries, and click save. Now any emails to inquiries will arrive in my inbox. This is usually the best strategy for cancelling an ex-employees account, but continuing to receive new messages to their address.

The second strategy is using a feature called groups. If you have an email address that receives incoming messages for multiple individuals, like a team, that is a perfect case to utilize groups. So to set up a group you can simply click the groups icon on your admin console. Here we can click Create Group. So let’s call this one Customer Feedback at WordJack .com and assign myself as the owner. Now, if I want members of the public to be able to email me externally and not just members of my organization, it’s important to check this box allowing external people to publish posts. Click Create Group and now there is an address called customer feedback which people can email. Another case of creating a new email address without having to pay any additional g-suite subscriptions for.
