how to screenprint a tee shirt easy tutorial

Today I will show you how to screenprint a tee shirt in this easy tutorial. This is a basic tutorial.

You will need:
a silkscreen or screen printing kit
masking tape
paper and a craft knife for making a stencil
acrylic craft paint or acrylic textile ink
scrap paper (old newspapers are fine)
tee shirts

* I used colored t-shirts because I plan to wear these on camera and white shirts do not look good on screen but white shirts will screen print much nicer I think!

Directions:

*Have all the t-shirts you wish to print ready with a piece of cardboard in the,. It is helpful to have a friend help you if you have a lot of shirts to print.

1. Cut a paper stencil to fit your silkscreen.
2. Use masking tape to mask off the screen beyond your stencil.
3. Place scrap paper on your work-surface, then the stencil on top and them center your silkscreen over the stencil so the area to be printed can be seen.
4. Apply ink to the edge of the screen and drag it over the screen. This adheres the stencil to the screen.
5. check the scrap paper. If the image looks spotty keep pulling prints on more scrap paper until it looks good then repeat the process on the t-shirt.

You can embellish the shirts if you want after they dry!
