How to Small Talk as a Shy Person
ChannelmuchellebDescription from the creator
Hey! So this is a bit of a different one - this is for all of you guys who struggle with small talk / conversation - not to a crippling degree, but enough that it impacts your life regularly.
E.g. You might be a person that is 100% sweet when you feel comfortable in a situation, but when you don't know people or you're in an environment that's new, you struggle. OR you can talk a TON about something you're interested in with someone, but when it comes to general conversation you're at a loss. OR You can talk to people that you're comfortable with and that you know care about you / won't judge you just fine! But if someones out of your bubble and maybe you don't know them so well, it's a struggle.
This is a kind of vulnerable video because it's something that I've worked with on and off, sometimes I forget that it's even an issue because I'm SO much better than I used to be (until I'm put in to a room with a person my age that I don't know) but sometimes I'm suuuper aware of it (e.g. when I'm invited to a gathering and my whole body is saying that this is a terrible idea).
I've grown a LOT thanks to working in a corporate environment and trying to very slowly get out of my comfort zone and talk to random people etc, and these are a few bits and pieces I've learnt along the way.
I'd love to hear your stories of how you've grown in this area, what's helped you the most. For me, it's chucking myself in to new situations that might terrify me that's been helpful, watching other people, etc, forcing me to learn along the way that's been the biggest help :) Travelling is always helpful and getting out of your bubble in general, even though it's hard.
Sending lots and lots of love your way, hopefully some of you can relate to this and it's helpful - I appreciate you soo much and I'll see you v v soon.
