EDIT:
Well the song that everyone either loved or hated had to be removed due to copyright claim, so you'll have to enjoy this generic music, and wonder what all the fuss was about...

Just an average (1980's) single family home basement ceiling.

Removed the (low) ceiling, sprayed white using airless sprayer rented from Home Depot. (Half price 24hr rental due to it not working when I got it, and having to return to get fixed...)

Used around 3 gallons of primer/sealant paint, and around 3 gallons of interior flat for ceilings paint.

Covered the insulation in between the joists (on walls above drywall) with plywood. (Later finished edges with quarter round). Added strip of 1x3 wood to cover edge of top of drywall.

Painted everything from wood joists, duct work, copper pipes, electrical wiring.

Very happy with the result. Makes the ceiling appear much higher. Final goal was an industrial office look. Approx. 400 sq. ft. of space.

Tips:

Move fast. Paint will run out fast.

Have a roller on stand by. Drips will likely occur on metallic, eg. duct work/pipes... A quick over with a roller will prevent dried drips.

Cover the entire floor with drop cloth if worried about mist dropping. I was gong to move drop cloth as I went, but got caught in the moment..
