How to take down Antenna Tower
ChannelDon CountsDescription from the creator
In this video, I followed Flintville Fire Rescue as the crew headed out to Lexie Crossroads to retrieve an antenna tower that had been generously donated to the department.
What started as a straightforward plan quickly turned into a much bigger project.
Once we arrived on site, it became clear that taking down the tower would require more time, more manpower, and more problem-solving than anyone expected. From evaluating structural stability to determining the safest way to lower and disassemble the sections, the team had to carefully think through every step. Safety was the top priority — not just getting the tower down, but making sure everyone went home without injury.
This is where you really see the heart of the fire service.
Firefighters are trained to respond to emergencies, but they also bring that same teamwork, adaptability, and calm decision-making to projects like this. When challenges came up, everyone put their heads together, adjusted the plan, and worked methodically to bring the tower down piece by piece. What could have been a frustrating day turned into a great example of cooperation, patience, and determination.
I documented the entire process — from arrival and assessment to safely lowering the structure and preparing it for transport back to the station.
It’s another reminder that being part of the fire service isn’t just about responding to calls. It’s about community support, resourcefulness, and working side by side to improve the department for the future.
Proud of these guys and the way they handled the job safely and professionally.
