I made a video to help understand how a temperature sensor / temperature sending unit works and also the gauge. This is from a mercury outboard but the same principal works on any boat, car, engine, etc. temperature sensors. Pardon the stumbling, this was one of my first lengthy videos. The final outcome is that this Merc sensor didn't quite match the gauge readings. I will probably use this gauge and just keep in my mind it could be about 30 - 15 deg off in the important areas. I still don't know what the 700-850ohm label is on the tag, but it is NOT the range of the sensor.
