First, Pay, Allowances and Allotments. With Pay it doesn't really change much unless you move up in rank or your time in service changes. So those are times I'll look it to make sure I get the right amount of coins. For allowances when I transferred back to San Diego from Central California making sure I was receiving the correct amount for BAH, basic allowance for housing was accurate. You know or have heard of the horror stories where you transfer and you still have an old BAH amount so you don't question it, but once the Military corrects it they will be quick to deduct that extra pay you were receiving.

Key takeaways from my experience to help you out is You get paid on the 1st and the 15th. So this info is in two places, your mid-month pay and end-of-month pay. Make sure to verify your TSP contributions and insurance premiums are being taken out correctly. The LES is separated like this: Monthly base pay, additional entitlements (special pay or allowances), deductions, allotments, tax withholding, TSP contributions, insurance deductions, leave information.
