In this video see how to vacuum your swimming pool. Some equipment you will need to help make vacuuming a breeze:
- Telescopic pole
- Vacuum head (we recommend a clear weighted vacuum head)
- Vacuum hose (we recommend a hose with a cuff on the end with a swivel)
- Vacuum adapter plate (we recommend an elbow for it)
** Before you begin, it helps to make sure you have the vacuum hose unraveled so that it's not coiled up. Otherwise it's like wrestling with a snake and that's no fun! **
Here are the steps to vacuum your pool:
1) Attach the swivel end of the vacuum hose to the vacuum head.
2) Slide the handle from the vacuum head into the telescopic pole.
3) Prime your vacuum hose (this is EXTREMELY important so that there are no air bubbles in the hose)
**How to prime your vacuum hose ** (there are two ways)
1) Your pool filter is off (this is the easiest and recommended method.
- Take your vacuum plate with the elbow attached and lower that into your skimmer.
- Put the vacuum head, pole, and hose into your pool.
- Stick the vacuum hose straight down into the water so that water fills the hose.
- Grab the cuff end of the vacuum hose, bring it under the water, and slide it through the opening of the skimmer onto the elbow of the vacuum plate.
- Turn on your pool filter and you're ready to vacuum!
2) Your pool filter is on. (This way is a little more difficult than method #1, but if you have a second set of hands it is easier)
- Put the vacuum head, pole, and hose into your pool. (The hose will float because it is not yet filled with water)
- Put the vacuum hose end into the water and attach it in front of the return inside the pool. (This is when you will see that the hose fills up with water)
- Turn your pool filter off (where the second set of hands will be handy!)
- Put the vacuum adapter plate into the skimmer. (Keep the end of the hose under the water to not allow air to get in it)
- Grab the cuff end of the vacuum hose off of the return inside the pool, and slide it through the opening of the skimmer onto the elbow of the vacuum plate.
- Turn your pool filter back on (remember that second set of handy hands!) and now you're ready to vacuum!
Vacuum Methods:
- Round shape pool- vacuum like you're cutting it into pie shapes.
- Oval/Rectangular pool- move from one end to the other, back and forth and to the center.
** Remember to vacuum slowly! It is actually very relaxing and you can enjoy the nice weather. You will love seeing your clean pool when you're all done! **
