This video demonstrates Knitting for beginners and shows how to add a new ball of yarn to existing knitting. The knitting shown is all in garter stitch. I do recommend adding a new ball of yarn at the beginning of a row as adding in the middle can cause a hole in your knitted fabric.

You will need to add new yarn if you run out of the ball you're working with or if you want to introduce stripes.


In this video I used Lion Brand Thick and Quick Wool Ease Yarn in the Grey Marble colorway with size 15US wooden needles. I recommend this yarn with wooden needles for a first project for any new knitter. It's easy to see the stitches and they won't fall off the needles. The blue yarn is from Bernat.

As a side note, I used shorter dpn style needles in the video, because the longer straight needles I would normally use for this didn't work for the video. I needed something short for this demo to work.
