Description from the creator

This video we talk bout finding the bpm or tempo of beats in ableton.

Step 1. if the beat is an mp3, trim the silence from the beginning so that the song starts exactly when the sound starts

Step 2. Use tap tempo to get approximate tempo. If you are playing the track directly out of able ton you will have to pause playback to tap as tapping changes (please lmk if theres a way around this!!) otherwise play the beat back from youtube or another media player and tap along.

Step 3. Identify the first large downbeat Transient, this will usually be a kick. be careful tho because sometimes the first transient is not a down beat. (by downbeat i am meangig the 1 of a 1,2,3,4 count pattern)

Step 4. Adjust the tempo until you see the first transient line up with the grid at a power of two interval (after 2, 4, 8 or 16 bars)

Step 5. play back beat with metronome to check for tempo accuracy.
