How to Rosin a Bow
ChannelFiddlershopDescription from the creator
If your bow is slipping, or you're just not generating the same amount of sound, you probably need some more rosin. If the bow is brand new, or just rehaired, you'll have to spend quite a bit of time getting the rosin evenly applied (could take a good 5 minutes). And you may find that the bow is overly dusty at first and will cause an undesirable gritty sound. Simply continue to wipe the excess rosin off the strings to clean the strings and get a smoother sound.
How often you apply rosin is a personal choice, ranging from once a day, to once a week or more. If your bow is slipping, that's usually a good indication that you need more.
Again, try not to touch your bow hair, or the rosin with your fingers, as the oils from your skin will create a barrier or a "slick spot" on the hair.
