A process in which a property owner contests a property valuation either informally or formally. The City of Philadelphia offers a number of Abatement and Exemption programs that may reduce a property's Real Estate Tax bill. Abatements reduce taxes by applying credits to the amount of tax due. Exemptions provide tax relief by reducing a property's assessed value.
