COVID-19 Voting Update: Alabama has issued an emergency rule allowing any qualified voter to vote with an absentee ballot. When requesting an absentee ballot due to COVID-19 concerns, check the box for “illness or disability.”

Any voter older than 65 or any voter with underlying medical conditions can forego the witness requirement if they provide a written statement attesting to their health status for the November 2020 election. Also, medically vulnerable voters can forego the ID requirement for the November 2020 election as long as they provide some other identifying information with their ballot, such as their driver's license number or last four digits of their Social Security Number.
