ChannelHeyLetsCommunicateDescription from the creator
How to attract students towards You?
Teaching is a noble profession. All of us become a Teacher at some or the other stage in our life.
Teaching and Training goes hand in hand. Our education system is heavily focused on 'Theory'. Thus it makes our teaching-learning Knowledge focused!
In practical life we comes across many problems which cannot be solved by knowledge alone.
We are living in such an exciting time.. We, as Teachers have to compete not just with other teachers but with Technology as well.
Thus attracting your students towards your way of teaching is challenging.
But here are 7 ways that will help you attract students towards you as if you are some kind of a Magnet.
1. Info-tain your students
Let us accept, most of the students doesn't like to sit in boring classes.
Their mind is always occupied in several things. While you are teaching, some of them are playing games on mobile phone.
To overcome this, you must provide information in an entertaining way. Information + Entertainment = Infotainment.
Info-tain your students.
2. Tell Stories
All of us, irrespective of our age, love stories. Your students are no different. Classroom teaching at times become monotonous. Imagine one hour lecture given by 4 to 5 Teachers back to back, daily. This becomes boring for students.
Break this pattern. Tell them stories about the topic you are planning to teach. Stories will engage them well and make them curious.
3. Use Apps to attract them
Let us do a mini research. List down all the 'apps you use for communication'.
I am confident you must have written 4-5 apps. Most of these apps are used by your students too.
Most widely used app is Whatsapp and Facebook. Use Whatsapp and Facebook stories to teach your topic.
This technique is only useful for smaller and digestible topics.
4. Use the Trekking principle
When people go for Trekking, hiking or mountaineering they follow one principle. The entire group moves at the speed of slowest member.
Think what will happen if the leader goes with the pace of fastest member? Some of the group members will be lost, isn't it?
Same way, in your class, all the students do not learn at the same speed. There are students who are slow.
But at the same time plan your subject in such a way that you complete the entire syllabus.
Have a balanced and consistent speed of teaching. You should neither be too slow nor rush the syllabus just before exams.
5. Gamification of Test
How many of us love to play games? All of us. In the year 2017 I did a survey of my students. I asked them which is their favorite game? There were several answers but 'Candy Crush' was the most common answer.
Why is Candy Crush so famous? The answer is, it provides levels. All of us want to reach higher levels in our lives.
So Test your students through games. Take them from easy to difficult levels. Give them a virtual reward when they complete a milestone.
Gamification of every subject is difficult but it gives amazing results. Try it!
6. Give them Chocolates
Well if you give them chocolates, they will surely be attracted towards you. But, here by chocolates I mean, give them Points, Charts, Mind-Maps, acronyms etc as a bite-able piece of information.
Give them some study material. Distribute notes to your students.
Break the bigger concepts into smaller pieces. Serve them as snacks and not as a whole meal.
7. Be Friendly and have a personal Touch
Our students are going through different phases in life. Some are happy some are sad. Now a days there is feeling of loneliness in many of the students. More than a Teacher, they need a caring friend. So be caring towards your students.
But a word of caution. Do not get too personal to them, you may end up in trouble.
If you sincerely work for their success, they will surely become your fan.
I wish that You become a very successful Teacher one day and impact thousands of lives positively.
