How many people's lives will be changed forever because they met you? Today I want to show you exactly how you can have that kind of impact on someone’s life.

Hey what’s up everyone welcome back my name is Allen Parr and we are often told that as Christians we are to make disciples (SCREEN: Mt 28:19-20). But we are seldom told how to do it. So today I want to share with you 4 principles on how to make a lifelong impact in someone else’s life. And the first principle is…

#1 – Intentionality – Jesus was intentional about selecting the men and women He wanted to pour Himself into. He invited them rather than waiting for them to ask Him. In the same way…
• Be intentional about finding some people to reproduce yourself into…
• Make sure they want to be discipled and they see the long-term value in it and they are appreciative of the opportunity to be discipled by you. Faithful and one day will reproduce themselves in other people
• If you aren’t intentional then it will seldom happen

#2 – Time – This is probably the main hindrance to people making disciples is that it takes “too much time.”
• Jesus spent over 3 years pouring Himself into 12 men. And as a result after He died these 12 men singlehandedly changed the world.
• A wise person said if you want to IMPRESS people spend little time with them. If you want to INFLUENCE them spend more time with them. But if you want to IMPACT them spend much time with them.
• Over TIME you’ll develop their TRUST and once you develop their TRUST you’ll then be able to share TRUTH with them. Once you get to this stage your not just filling their HEAD (how they think) with knowledge you’re impacting their HEART (how they believe) and their HANDS (how they live).
• SCREEN: One of the best ways to do this is to simply take them along with you to different places that you are already going.
o This will allow them to observe you
o It will allow you to observe them
o Provide teachable moments along the way

#3 – Teaching – Not only did Jesus invest time into his 12 disciples but he taught them while spending time with them. John 17:8

There are several ways you can do this.
• Go through a book of the Bible

But if you’re not confident in leading someone through a book of the Bible…
• Read a Christian book together and meet each week to discuss it
• You can share with them wisdom from your own personal experience (but this introduces the principles of TRANSPARENCY)
• Find interesting articles online for them to read and discuss together

Don’t worry about what you don’t know. Simply teach them what you do know.

#4 – Integrity – Jesus’ disciples followed Him because He modeled everything He was asking them to do (prayer, teaching, Bible study, serving others, etc.) – Nothing will destroy a discipleship relationship quicker than a lack of integrity. The people God has given you are looking up to you as their example (Eph. 5:1). (SCREEN: We will reproduce what we are).

CLOSING
People will forget a sermon and a song but when you have this type of impact on their life they will remember you for a lifetime and then they will then be able to later reproduce themselves in someone else all because you were willing to invest a little of your time. Never forget that by investing some of your time into even just one person you are making a impact on eternity.
