Description from the creator

Hey guys! I just wanted to share another tutorial, this time - on how to cut into your knitting to place an afterthought heel in your socks. For my socks, I knit 2aat, on magic loop. So the materials I am using are my size 1 Addi turbo Sock rockets (42" cable), my scissors, embroidery needle and of course, my socks! Yarn is my own hand dyed yarn, in one of my speckled gradient pairs. You can find these yarns and more on my website - if you are so inclined!

I am not showing my stitching on the heel (for the sake of time), but you can place in the heel that you prefer. I typically use a 2 row repeat for magic loop, k all stitches around - then (k, ssk, knit to last 3, k2tog, K) x2. I decrease until theres about 1/3 of my stitches left and kitchener or graft closed (similarly to how I decrease my toes). There are also patterns out there for more rounded shape heels (where you're decreasing every 3rd row for a couple repeats, then every second, then every row).

I hope you enjoy! If you do, please be sure to LIKE and SUBSCRIBE for more videos like this. And don't forget to smash that bell icon for notifications! :) Hugs!
