This video describes the technique I use to flatten paper - as a print maker, this can be helpful if you have a large solid area to print. the damp paper makes it easier to transfer the ink. This technique can also be used if you have piece of paper which has been damaged in some way - but only if the paper is strong enough to withstand being wet and any inks on the paper are waterproof.
