Description from the creator

This is the first of many 15-minute video lectures in which Richard Hammerud explains a radically new approach to Venn diagrams. Hammerud has a Ph.D. from U.C. Berkeley in English literature and has taught logic in colleges for thirty years. Hammerud shows how Venn diagrams can be used to diagram arguments in propositional logic and predicate logic. This is a completely new system that he developed and he believes his system should replace the way Venn diagrams are taught in college logic books. Up till now, Venn diagrams are used to teach Categorical syllogisms; Hammerud shows how can they be used to teach propositional logic and predicate logic. His lectures are based on his book (uinpublished) entitled Venn Diagrams and Symbolic Logic: Diagramming arguments in Propositional and Predicate Logic. (copyright 2020).
