Let me tell you a little story. When I first learned how to drive a manual tranmission, or how to drive a stick shift, I was probably 12-13 years old. My parents had an old pontiac with a 4 speed, and they knew they were going to sell it soon. They wanted me to learn, so we went to an old parking lot behind an industrial era factory, and I started practicing.


Just like I teach you in this video, the best way to learn how to drive a stick shift, or how to drive a manual transmissions, is ot get comfortable with the clutch.


I remember a vague feeling of being out of control because when you press the break but the clutch isn't pushed in the car still pulls foward. Learning to push in the clutch and the break at hte same time, and/or putting the car into Neutral was a big step.


Fast forward to age 17, and I'd bought a manual tranmission Audi. I was throwing myself in the deep end. I bought it, and had no choice but to learn. I remember a few rough moments on hill stops in boston, but I really did get it pretty quickly, and after that experience, it became muscle memory!
