How to get your Iowa Real Estate License?

Thinking about becoming an Iowa Real Estate Agent? I can help!

 The 9 Steps to Getting Your Real Estate License (in Iowa)
1.) Are you within 6 months of becoming 18?
2.) Go to Iowa.plb.gov and register for your account and order your background check packet. Background Check (Do this when you start classes!) The packet is Free, but the cost of the background check is $51. The fingerprint place may charge its own fee. Once the background check has been reviewed by the commission the report is only valid for 210 days.
3.) Complete the 60 Hours of Pre-Licensure Education (affiliate.kapre.com/aff/hollykbrink)
4.) Complete Additional Required Courses:
12 hours of Buying Practices
12 hours of Listing Practices
12 hours of Developing Professionalism and Ethical Practices

This course work must be completed during the 12 months prior to the license application. These classes must be taken in person or virtual via a live camera. This education is in addition to the 60–hour salesperson pre-license course. These courses can be taken in any order.
5.) Take The Exams $95
6.) Send in your entire application packet with the $125 Licensee Fee. Truthful answers only. (as well as your Errors & Omissions Insurance Policy if you are in Iowa) RISCEO
7.) Interview eXp Realty and other Brokerages (Commission splits, services, training, coaching, services & benefits) to find a good fit for you.
8.) Activate your License and Join your Real Estate Brokerage (eXp Realty also requires the online application!) JoinHollyBrink.com (Sponsor: Holly Brink / [email protected])
9.) Join the National Association of Realtors, the Iowa Association of Realtors, and your local board of Realtors & Multiple Listing Service (MLS) - Between $700 - $1,500 so find out in advance!
