If the traffic police officer who challaned you tells you to go to a particular Transport Authority, go there after 3 months. carry original challan, photocopy of the slip of fine paid by you & photocopy of of your ID. try to be at the authority in morning only as they might not take requests for suspended DLs after lunch. once you have submitted the papers, authority will give you a particular date on which you can go and collect the DL between 2 to 3 pm. there is no test or counselling session to get the DL back.

people at authority may say that your license is not at that particular transport office. that they haven’t received it. they’ll then ask you to go to traffic police office in the circle where you were challaned. from there you’ll have to confirm the transport office where your DL was sent. take a photo copy of the file so that people at authority don’t make you run circles again. then you go to that particular transport office, get the date from them & collect your DL on that date. if traffic police hasn’t yet sent your DL to any authority, you can request them if they can return your DL then and there so that you can avoid going to authority again. but this is totally on their discretion whether they’ll give it you at traffic police station. otherwise you’ll have to take it from authority only.

don’t get taken in by the touts if they offer to do your work. they’ll ask too much money. it will only take some time & effort on your part to get DL back without spending any more money.
