We try not to bath our rats, most of them hate it and they do not need regular baths. Rats do a very good job of keeping themselves clean. But if your rattie has got very mucky eating or is old and having trouble cleaning their backs or underneath this is how we would help them stay clean without causing too much stress. Plain lukewarm water is usually enough, if you do need a little shampoo always use one that is made for small animals and rinse well. Never use shampoo on your rats head or face.
