Description from the creator

Our microgreen kits are easy to start growing with. Once you open the box, you will find the following items -
1. Cocopeat Discs
2. Spray Bottle
3. Nutrient A bottle
4. Nutrient B bottle
5. Seed Packet
6. Instruction Card
7. Label Stick
8. Jute Pot

In addition to this you will need the following -
1. 1 litre bottle of water
2. 1 TBS lemon juice
3. A flat tray to keep the jute pot on (needed after day 5)

How to grow -

1. Prepare the first batch of water by taking one litre drinking water, adding 50% of Nutrient A solution to it and then adding 1 TBS lemon juice to it. Mix this water well. This is what we will use for early growth stage (usually till day 5-7).

2. Take out all the cocopeat discs and remover the cover. Put the cocopeat inside a small container. Take 125 ml or half cup of the prepared water (step 1) and pour it on top of the cocopeat slowly. This water should be soaked up completely by the cocopeat. If you think that more water should be added as some cocopeat looks dry, you can add a little bit more.

3. Take out the jute pot and fill the pot with all of the cocopeat. Flatten the top surface so that seeds don't collect on one spot.

4. Spread the seeds from the packet evenly on the top surface of the cocopeat. If needed, spread it gently with your fingers.

5. Fill the spray bottle with the prepared water from step 1 and spray very generously on top of the seeds evenly. You will need to spray two times a day.

6. Label the stick with the variety of microgreen and the date you start. Put this inside the pot.

7. Keep the microgreens near a window which receives some sunlight. Microgreens does not require harsh sunlight.

8. Pro Tip* - this is for experiences growers. You can keep the microgreens covered for the first 2-3 days as it encourages them to grow tall!

9. Your microgreens should start to grow to about an inch tall by the 5-7 th day. Certain microgreens like Basil specially are slow growers. They might take 10-12 days to reach this height. Once they are at this stage, you will need to prepare the next batch of water for the days ahead.

10. Remove the prepared water from the bottle. You can use it to water any existing house plants with it.
Put in fresh 1 litre drinking water. Add all of Nutrient A and Nutrient B to this. Add 1 TBS of lemon juice to it and mix it well.

11. Keep the microgreen jute pot on top of any flat tray. Pour some water inside the tray. The bottom surface of the jute will soak it most of this water. A good way to check you are not over watering is that all of the water poured is absorbed by the jute pot and the tray is moist. It's important to not over water as it leads to moulding issues.

12. Bottom water once a day from day 6-8 till your microgreens are ready to harvest. During this time you do not need to spray water on top. Microgreens are usually ready when they are about 2 inches tall.

13. If you are not sure if your microgreens are ready to harvest, don't worry. Take a bite of one microgreen and check if the flavour is developed.

14. You can harvest the greens with a clean pair of scissors. Cut 1/2 inch from the bottom to keep your microgreens clean and away from any dust. We recommend you harvest it completely on the day you decide. However, you could also harvest in small portions as you eat.

15. Once harvested, clean it under running water and store it in a box with tissue paper at the bottom. Punch some holes on the lid of the box and keep it inside the fridge. Consume your greens within 2-3 days.

16. Your jute pot and cocopeat are eco friendly and one can discard after using it. However if you want, you could dry the cocopeat in the sun and remove any plant roots. This way you should be able to reuse them. The jute pot can be washed and used later to replant any seed.

17. PRO TIP* - a lot of our customers ask if we should put some of the cocopeat on top of the seeds to cover them. It's a good way to grow as well. You can do this step as it will not harm your microgreens in anyway and would give you a stronger stem. However, if it's your first time growing, keep it simple :)
